We’re Govinda (Nepal) and Valerie (Netherlands) — partners in travel and in life. Together, we’ve been creating meaningful journeys in Nepal since 2015.
Govinda grew up in a mountain village near Pokhara. Valerie first visited Nepal in 2013, fell in love with the country (and a certain Nepali), and never truly left. That’s how By Mountain People began: two worlds coming together to offer you the very best of both.
Today, we run a small but passionate travel company with one clear goal: To help you experience Nepal in a way that’s real, respectful, and unforgettable.
We design and organize tailor-made trips and small group adventures across Nepal. Always personal. Always fair. And always with deep respect for the people, nature and culture of this extraordinary country.
We work closely with local guides, porters and family-run guesthouses. Not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it’s the only way to truly connect you with the heart of Nepal.

I've been guiding in the Himalayas for over 20 years. But what I love most isn't the mountains — it's the people I meet along the way. I live in Kathmandu with my wife and two children. At BMP, I lead the team and make sure every guest feels at home.
I've been with BMP for 5 years and I'm proud of every single trek. I live in the Everest region, with my wife and daughter. I'm still learning English, but my care for every guest never needs translating.
Mountains are my life. I've been guiding treks and climbs for over 10 years. From remote valleys to the highest summits in the world. I grew up in the Everest region, speak Japanese and I'm married and I have X kids.

I'm Gopal, Govinda's brother and owner of Goreto Gear Traders in Thamel. Need gear for your trek? Come by. I'll make sure you have exactly what you need. Nothing more, nothing less.
I come from one of the flattest countries in the world. Yet somehow, I lost my heart to Nepal. its mountains, its people and one particular Nepali. That's how By Mountain People began.
I love Nepal. And I've spent my whole life connecting people with my country. From running a gear shop in Thamel to guiding in the mountains. That love is why I started By Mountain People.
