Not all treks are the same. Here’s what to consider when choosing the right one for you:

  • Fitness Level and Experience: If you’re new to trekking, start with an easier route like the Poon Hill Trek. If you’re more experienced, try something more challenging like the Everest Base Camp Trek.
  • Private vs. Group TreksPrivate treks offer more flexibility and personalized service, while group treks are a great way to meet new people and share the experience.
  • Guided vs. Independent Treks: Going with a local guide can enhance your experience and ensure safety, especially on more difficult routes. Also, you will be assured of a room in the next village. Which can be challenging during both high- and low-season. Independent trekking gives you more freedom but requires more preparation.

Trekking in Nepal is an incredible experience, but it’s important to know what to expect:

  • Weather: The weather can change quickly in the mountains. Be prepared for all conditions, from sunny days to cold, windy nights.
  • Culture: Nepal is rich in culture. Respect local customs and traditions, such as dressing modestly and asking permission before taking photos.
  • Food and Accommodation: You’ll find a variety of simple but delicious local foods. Accommodation is usually in tea houses or lodges, which are basic but offer the essential facilities you’ll need.
  • Health and SafetyAltitude sickness can be a concern on higher treks. It’s important to acclimatize properly and stay hydrated. Bring a basic first aid kit and travel insurance.

A successful trek requires good preparation. Here’s 5 important things you need to know:

  1. Trekking guide: In most areas of Nepal, it’s mandatory to hire a licensed guide. Make sure you choose a reliable trekking organization that can provide accurate information about the route and ensures the guide is paid a fair wage.
  2. Visas and Permits: You’ll need a tourist visa to enter Nepal and a TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) card for trekking. Additionally, depending on the route, you may also require additional permits.
  3. Insurance: Make sure you have travel insurance that covers trekking and potential evacuations. Having a proper insurance is required to obtain your trekking permits.
  4. Essential Gear: Pack wisely. Important items include sturdy trekking boots, warm clothing, a sleeping bag, and a good backpack.
  5. Physical Fitness: Start training a few months before your trek. Regular cardio exercise, such as walking, running, or cycling, will help build your stamina.

Trekking in Nepal can fit a range of budgets:

  • Cost Estimates: A short, basic trek might cost around 700-1,000 euro (800 to 1,100 USD), while a longer trek at higher altitude can go up to 2,000 euro (2,200 USD) or more.
  • What’s Included? Our trips include accommodation, meals, transfer, permits, and guide and porter services. Our individual trips we can entirely customise to your wishes.
  • Extra Expenses: Don’t forget to budget for tips, snacks, and souvenirs. As well as your lunch and dinner in the city.
