1 shoe — Easy Moderate walking days, altitude up to 3,500m. No high passes.
1½ shoes — Moderate Longer days, altitude up to 4,000m. Good fitness required.
2 shoes — Challenging Demanding days, altitude up to 4,500m. Some mountain experience recommended.
2½ shoes — Demanding Long demanding days, altitude up to 5,000m. Fitness and altitude experience required.
3 shoes — Very demanding Altitude above 5,000m, multiple high passes. Experienced mountain trekkers only.
